sea-spiders?

Two dozen crabs in one pot! Whoo-hoo! Oh, wait, it's not dinner, it's a horde of... spiders!?

summer at the Point

Today we spent at Carlson Point, and oh, what a day! Variable 10, CAVU, almost summer weather- we hiked completely around the cape,

worked on my tan,

found treasures,

made a beachfire and cooked craisin-stuffed apples with walnuts, another winner from Rose, while we watched the sun sink to the west, while maybe a dozen whales played in all directions,

Rose had to watch out for whales on the skiff ride home (so they didn't flip our boat over. whales are apparently quite mischevious)

and to finish off a perfect day, a nice fat codfish for dinner

Not just the deer anymore...

Spring is coming- the trees are budding- and other friends are out on a walk-about. Fresh tracks in the snow, we didn't discover them until on our way back to camp!

Return to Uyak

We are back, caretaking for the Munsey's Bear camp, in Uyak Bay. Today was windy and cold, but we took an excellent hike in the afternoon- saw many things:

huge icycles

shipwreck

old goldmine machinery

and a bottomless abyss, either a mine shaft or else the fabled tunnel under Amook Pass that we have been told about. Either being true, it was full of ice, so we didn't crawl underwater to Amook Island.

you ice fish in the winter, right?

Metallic Marine Art

Here is my latest big movie project- I also composed the original score- made for my friend Mark, who is very talented. I now have this beautiful chinook salmon hanging on my wall- go buy some of this beautiful Kodiak-inspired art!

perpetrator!

Well it turns out that my blog was hacked into and that last post and photo was added by someone else... and I discovered the perpetrator:

(perhaps this is not the first thing he has "perpetrated") And what is that thing hanging there, is it part of his drysuit? (I hope so).

Jerry's shop

In a final frenzy, we put up a shop/storage building, only half of the final building- this was approx. 12'X14' -with suntuff roofing for light and heat. We had to chip away ice from the pilings, but then the sun came and turned everything to mud, so the girls wrestled. Ok, well there was a definite lack of females at this camp, so we just built.

All rough-cut spruce from our beloved Kodiak.

I left before it was finished, nice spruce siding will cover the outside. Old plywood was from Jerry's old house that burnt down, and the shop was built in his style of open floored, light- entered roofing. This shop was built in his honor, we salute you, Jerry.

Update: shop with door and siding- beautiful!
